Treating Overbite and Other Malocclusions in Puppies and Kittens

Orthodontic treatments are performed to help pets have a pain-free and a non-traumatic bite. Many puppies and kittens suffer painful and traumatic malocclusions. Dr. Startup and Dr. Burton are highly experienced at bite evaluations, genetic counseling, and orthodontic treatments. When a puppy or kitten is presented for a malocclusion such as an overbite or underbite, early treatment is important to alleviate pain and prevent problems when the adult teeth erupt. Treatment of adult patients with malocclusions can also achieve the goals of alleviating pain and preventing further problems, significantly improving their quality of life.  Orthodontic treatment options may include using an appliance to move teeth, extractions of a select tooth or teeth, or crown reduction therapy with vital pulp therapy.

Our goal is to provide your pet with a functional and pain-free occlusion.
